Things To Do

Glenelg

You will find everything you need on  Jetty Road Glenelg just 500m from our doorstep. You can easily spend an afternoon wandering around the shops - books, shoes, clothes, cute home wares and fun souvenirs, you name it!

Big and little kids will love a day out at The Beach House, a 5 minute walk from here. There are Bumper Boats, Mini Golf, a 5 storey supervised indoor Play Castle, Dodgem Cars, Carousel, Ferris Wheel and fabulous waterslides! On the weekends there is always something on in Glenelg –sporting events, craft markets, pony or camel rides, an Ice rink in winter, outdoor cinema in summer, and a Trampoline and Go-Carts at the end of the Jetty in Moseley square.

If you are the active type you could Hire a bike and cycle along the paths as far as you like, or just to the next cafe! The path out front is an safe and popular jogging spot. Or we'll lend you a rod and you can drop a line off the Jetty. There is some excellent fishing to be done off Glenelg – we recommend the boys at GO Get em Fishing Charters.

For an unforgettable experience book a morning cruise and swim with the dolphins, or just relax and enjoy a sunset cruise on the water.

Eating Out

There are over 50 different restaurants and cafes in the Glenelg area. From Italian to Thai and Japanese, BBQ steak houses to fine Greek dining, fish and chips to excellent coffee, there's something for everyone. Take a stroll around the Holdfast Shores Marina  Promenade, where you'll find contemporary cuisine featuring South Australia's finest seafood including King George whiting, world-renowned Coffin Bay oysters and Spencer Gulf prawns, all from the pristine waters of South Australia. Our favourite spots here are Zucca, - great seafood and smiling sunny service every time and Eden for a cool cocktail and modern fresh food.

A Bit of Culture

If you're looking for an educational day out, catch the tram from Glenelg to the wonderful South Australian Museum and Art galleries in Adelaide City. You can do a ghost tour of The Old Adelaide Gaol, visit the Bradman collection or catch a match at the new Adelaide Oval  or take it slow and just have a picnic in the Botanic Gardens.

Gourmet Markets

Adelaide is a foodie paradise with fantastic restaurants and dozens of excellent picnic spots in the hills, beaches and parks.

All of our apartments are self-contained so you can cook up a storm after visiting the Adelaide Central Markets, or Farmers Markets in the city. On the way home, make sure you stock up your chocolate supply with a trip to Haigh's Chocolate factory.

Shopping

The Glenelg Tram provides easy access to the heart of Adelaide and to Rundle Mall shopping precinct for the boutiques and department store experience. For an alternative shopping experience we're just 10 minutes from IKEA (essential shopping for our country guests!) and Harbour Town which offers outlet and discount shopping. Marion Westfield shopping centre is a 10-minute drive from our door, with 100s of shops, a Multiplex cinema and Bowling alley.

Animal Magic

Why not take the kids on an animal safari at Monarto Zoo and see lions and giraffes roaming the plains. Or spend a day at the Adelaide Zoo and check out our Pandas Wang Wang and Funi - the only pandas in the southern hemisphere!

If cuddling a cute koala is more your style, you can't go past Cleland Wildlife Park where you can see and feed some Aussie wildlife. Kids will absolutely love to feed the kangaroos at the award winning Hahndorf Farm Barnin the Adelaide Hills.

Adelaide Hills

Enjoy a day in the The Adelaide Hills any time of the year. Hahndorf, the famous German tourist town is particularly lovely in autumn when the leaves are changing colour.

The Hills offer some wonderful places to eat - The Lane and Long View Vineyard are our favourites. Finish the day off with a romantic dinner and a stunning view of Adelaide's lights at Windy Point or Mt Lofty Summit Restaurant.

Up and Down the Coast

The St Kilda Playground about 40 minutes north of Glenelg is a great spot for all ages with big twisting slides, flying foxes and more. Entry is free and BBQs are available so pack a picnic.

Just 20 minutes up the coast is the Semaphore fun fair with its old fashioned carousel, little steam train and tin can alley games – the kids will love it!

Why not check out the stunning Southern coastline and beautiful beaches on the Fleurieu Peninsula and take a day trip to Victor Harbor or Goolwa. Learn to surf, visit wineries, take the kids Strawberry picking, get your picnic supplies at the Alexandrina Cheese factory, on the way to Victor’ where you can look for penguins on the beach and take a horse-drawn carriage ride over to Granite Island.

Beer & Wine Tasting

For the best South Aussie ales you must visit the iconic Coopers Brewery. Also highly recommended is the local drop by the The Clare Valley Brewing Company, Vale Ale and Goodieson Brewery.

South Australia produces more than half of Australia's wine so chances are you'll find your favourite drop right here! A great place to start and to do some wine tasting and find out more about our state's wine regions is at the Adelaide Wine Centre.

Glenelg is the perfect place to base yourself for day trips - you can easily spend a day or 3 visiting cellar doors – there are more than 200 to choose from -  in The Adelaide Hills, The Barossa valley, The Clare Valley or McLaren Vale.

Why not book a private tailored mini-bus tour with Barossa Taste Sensations, Tour Barossa and Wine Diva Tours are also highly recommended.

Feel free to ask us for any particular recommendations, we have an embarrassingly extensive knowledge of the local food and wine regions……

Planes, Trains and Automobile Museums

Historic Port Adelaide is where you'll find the Maritime Museum, the Railway MuseumAviation Museum, Sunday markets and much more.

For classic cars and motorbikes, take a drive up into the The Adelaide Hills to the Birdwood Museum -it's well worth the trip.
