When you think of the beach, one often associates it with sunshine, sunscreen and sunsets, in a nutshell a lot of SUN! But winter is also a truly remarkable time of year to be by the sea.
Earlier this week we witnessed a huge storm roll in from the sea. The number of people walking their dogs, jogging and walking started to dwindle as the skies began to darken and the wind changed from a light breeze to that of a mini cyclone. The rain appeared from nowhere, lashing fiercely at the windows of reception as we turned the heating on for the first time this year!
One of our guests joined me in reception seeking shelter from such unexpected conditions, jesting that their trip to McLaren Vale may need to be postponed until tomorrow! However in the time it took to shake off his wet jacket, the storm had passed, leaving nothing more than the smell of salt in the air and fresh blue skies in its wake.
Winter may be fast approaching, but to me there is still no better place to be than by the sea!
